Junction Rd closure is here for a splash

 


This weekend will see the 1st road stoppage on Junction Rd at Old Weston Rd for the Go Transit project; a couple of years after the project 1st announced the closure was to take place.

This is the 1st step in the removal of the intersection which has for so long been a defining part of the industrial character of the Junction. The freight of all manner - the work force of many types that stood to await the crossing of trains as they walked from the industrial buildings to homes and shops, which has lessened in the past decades, but still occurs from the remaining industry will change so much with this rail road bed change. 

But as the Junction served the city greatly with its acceptance and bond with the railroads in the past it will serve even a greater part of the greater GTA population with the new transit improvements.

 

Oh and there is an increased work load announced by Go and there contractors...

Pile driving will be extended to Monday-Friday from 7am to 7pm, and on Saturdays from 9 to 5 (with other construction occurring between 7am and 7pm on Saturdays).  They say that this is for the next 3 weeks -  June 25 to July 13

St Mary's Cement Junction location, what is it?

The those who what to see the increased industrial of the industrial areas of the Junction that are deemed core industrial areas by the city the reuse of the flour mill silos on Junction Rd. by St Mary's Cement was wonderful. Yet what actually the locating does is a mystery, is t simply a holding and transfer station between trains and road trucks or simply a storage location?
