Morrow Ave. the most beautiful redefined street in the greater Junction Area?

Morrow Ave has been transformed over the last 15 years from the industrial street it was to a series of redefined buildings. These buildings now redeveloped house an art gallery of much merit, a loft development project and a series of other thought based businesses types. Oh yes and wonder Home Hardware.

This avenue is really worth a stroll particularly in Sunday's when it's quite quiet and the parked car and weekday business bustle is absent.

Here a little photo tour.

Hounslow Heath Rd, the twists, turns and shapely buildings

Hounslow Heath Rd is a rare street in the Greater Junction Area, it twists and turns as a few other street sin the area do Law Aves, being one.  Hounslow Heath Rd has the beauty a twist  or two in a street can offer during a walk - simply through dispelling the though and vision of where you are going than straight street soften do.

Hounslow Heath Rd has a great assortment of houses from simple straight ups to older style duplexes, 1st and second floor closed in verandas. Open verandas, some houses with driveways others without.  Walk-up verandas and straight to the road walkways.

Roof styles of just about every type common in the Junctions.

If you like viewing the mosaics of street housing this road is worth a walk.

Update from a comment left by reader Leo, thanks

Curiosity led me one day years ago to visit the archives to learn more about Hounslow Heath R., the street I grew up on in the 50/60/70 era. Construction of homes began on the south side close to Laughton Ave. about 1912 or so and it progressed west and north to St. Clair before finally beginning on the north side of the street. The street plan was available and it gave a hint as to why the street did not follow the typical Toronto grid. The plan revealed a proposed railway (Northern Railway), which ran a diagonal from Caledonia and Davenport Rd. to Keele St. and St. Clair. I believe there were train stations at both of these locations. The proposed railway would run exactly parallel with the back laneway on the south side of the street. For whatever reason, the railway was never built and a park was granted in it’s place. Osler School built in 1962, took over most of the park for a running track.

Silvano Colour Labs history and specs of the purpose built building currently for sale.

This  building was purposely for the professional printing  firm  Silvano Colour Lab a company that  was very big in the professional photo printing for decades. 1st in a very similar looking building just across the street from this building which the business occupied until its closing.

Silvano Venuto and John Sacilotto created a     colour processing company in Toronto’s west end just south of Roger Rd. On Old Weston Rd. Skilled engineers they built   their own processing machinery, modified equipment all to provide on of the best printing services available.

Silvano Color Labs moved forward with all the changes taking place in their industry for decades, well just over 5 decades.. The technological  sweep of  digital imaging  photography and new forms of sharing photos such as email and online photo services greatly changed the nature of the industry, yet this great company stayed open until February 3, 2012.

This blogger with really miss their SILVANO EASY CROP MASKS.

Junction Rd / Weston Rd shutdown to last for months more.

The west Toronto Diamond separation projection will keep the Junction Rd / Weston Rd roadway shutdown to last for months more.

This section of the airport rail link involves the construction of a major underpass where one railroad track will pass over another.

Historically the trains traveled over trackage that crossed each other at a level crossing, requiring one train to stop while another passed.

All this construction will remove this rail travel limitation.

The congestion this construction causes it appears to be a major headache for the local police who have to come down to southern part of their division by Keele St only.

The reopening of the Junction Rd / Weston Rd way will allow the police a much quicker travel way into the south end of their division.

So what's the work at the Junction Rd / Weston Rd diamond separate now.

Here are a number of photographs of the site currently. The large round objects are the concrete filled steel tubes that will
form the barrier wall as the dig out the ground to form the underpass.

The following images are of sound deadening shrouds used during the driving in of the steel piles.

The blog intends to put a page of all the image being sent in once the uploading issue presently troubling the blog is fixed.
