The Good Neighbour

It’s not a Tim Hortons but the Junction has another great coffee shop on the corner of Annette and Quebec called The Good Neighbour.

The spacious and bright cafe has a trendy lounge feel with eclectic furniture, gas fireplace, and bowling alley counter.  The vintage decor blends in very nice and I expect this will be a Junction hotspot by the weekend.

The Junction coffee standards are very high and my cappuccino was as good as any in the city.  The food on a Wednesday morning was muffins and baked goods which all looked good.

  1. Saw the post in the blog, and thought I'd check it out... Been working here on my laptop for a couple hours now and it ROCKS! Beautiful space, really nice owners, great spot to work or chill. Hope it does well - they deserve it!

  2. They can continue to be a good neighbour by regularly removing graffiti.

  3. For the record, this is real. The "coffee shop" at Annette and Clendenan is actually a film set, scheduled to be up for a week. Sunny Bar/Pete's hasn't gone anywhere.

  4. I got a super latte there this am. The space is lovely and comfy. I will be definately be going there when I don't have a stroller in tow. The several steps up to the entrance make it tricky for a stroller, I am sure those who are tired of the stroller mobs in Crema will appreciate the deterent! =)

I hope this business well and can't wait to see if they are going to add any other food to their menu.

  8. Been here twice now and love, love, love it! The graffiti can be off-putting from the outside but don't let that stop you from going in - the clean, white-wash and vintage rustic decor feels like cottage country meets the city in a comfortable, inviting way (read: no country goose motifs or overly-trendy damask prints here). I like the coffee and have tried the hot chocolate, which is creamy with a nice frothiness. Service is excellent and both staff and clientèle are of the friendly, laid-back variety. I hope it stays around because I plan on making it an everyday stop!

  9. I actually really like this place too. Really good coffee and an excellent selection of teas too! The free wifi, is a super bonus, the speed is really good too, and with all that natural light, i got alot of work done relatively quickly.

The owners are super nice, and the place is very comfy to boot. Yes, i have seen 'a little' graffitti, but seeing as it was obviously not done by the couple who own it, and...the previous incarnation of this spot was a defunct eye-sore variety store...i can put up with the mild vandilisms for the work they HAVE put in.
Good luck with it, i hope you do well Good Neighbour.
