When is the Canada Bread Lloyd Avenue site officially closing down and moving to the new Hamilton site?

ReplyDeleteTheir drivers run the stop signs at Mulock and Lloyd constantly, the intersection is right next to a playground.
The litter where these trucks park along the Cawthra Avenue is disgusting.
Canada Bread along with NRT fought against the development of the lot just north of them because they couldn’t afford to control their polution emissions. (http://www.omb.gov.on.ca/e-decisions/pl060854-Oct-21-2008.pdf).
don't feel bad for them, and I hope they don't bother the residential community too much, running lights is not good.
ReplyDeleteTerrasan has left a lot of garbage on and around their land including there newly vacant homes at 174 and 176 Mulock Avenue owned by them were these trucks park.
ReplyDeleteThey need to cleanup their mess since they own the properties.
Please call Terrasan or the city in regards to their cleanup problems.

It seems that Canada Bread site "130 Cawthra Avenue" will be shutting down earlier than expected for at least one part

What I have been told is that the northern part of the plant closes to "Lloyd Avenue" will be shutting down this December 2010.
The southern part of the plant closes to "Hirons Street" will be shutting down anytime between "July 2011 - October 2011"
Can anyone confirm if this is true, if they know employees currently working at the plant who have been told by Canada Bread the same info.
I ran into a friend at one of the Coffee shops in the Junction who works at the plant and what he told me was there was a change in plans and the new closure dates are the following for the Canada Bread Plant on Cawthra Avenue.
ReplyDeleteThe North End of the plant (near Lloyd Street) is to close APRIL 2011 and the South End of the plant is to close OCTOBER 2011 (Complete Closure).
It seems after speaking with a friend at the Canada Bread Plant on Cawthra Avenue, the whole facility from the North to South End is being shutdown and emptied out this coming September 2011.

The following article came out today and mentions the plant closures. The Cawthra plant is scheduled to close first, so that would be from now to the end of this year (2011).

Maple Leaf is transferring production from and shuttering three bakeries in the Greater Toronto Area to the new facility, between the end of 2011 and early 2013.
A friend of mine from the area told me he received confirmation from Canada Bread that they will be shutting down production at the Cawthra plant by the end of 2011, meaning the plant will be shutdown by year end.
ReplyDeleteI drove by the plant and spoke with some employees working at the Canada Bread Facility and they told me the South End of the plant has already been shut down and currently moving the machinery/equipment off the site and the north end of the plant will be shutdown in a month and a half from now, worst case scenario the end of 2011.
