  1. Thanks for the update on the blog.

    I have heard that the notice should be sent out shortly possibly by the end of this week.
    They might be going door to door with the notice of the meeting or by mail.

    Councillor Nunciata office will know the exact details of when the notice will go out for the meeting.

    Please plan to attend and voice your opinion with regards to the cleanup of the land etc..

  6. The meeting yesterday went very good.

    Terrasan has committed to remove all the concrete/garbage of it's 6 Lloyd Aveneue site and will not dump new stuff there since they are not permitted to do so and not zoned for that. They have violations against them by the Environmental people and fined. Terrasan has also confirmed that they will reapply for commercial/resdential condos again with changes since things have changed from the previous application.
    Canada bread is moving, the mall complex is be built at 30 Weston rd, the area is being developed, and the community is showing support of this development and all agreed that is what they want.
    There is a very good chance that this time around Terrasan will get the Commercial/Residential they have been asking for a very long time.

  7. Forgot to mention that Terrasan also mentioned in the meeting yesterday that they plan to demolish the two boarded up homes as well 174/176 Mulock Avenue.

  8. I noticed that there is activity at 6 Lloyd Avenue and Terrasan is moving the concrete around. Hopefully this means they have started to cleanup the site.

  9. Spoke to the Terrasan people on site and they mentioned that they have started the cleanup activity at 6 Lloyd Avenue, which is great news.

  10. It seems the lands at 43 Junction Rd (where the silo used to be) down the street from 6 Lloyd is being developed into an Organic Food Market.

    Good news for area foodies: An application is before the city to put an organic supermarket at the foot of Mulock avenue, in the space at 43 Junction Road, which underwent some renovations recently. The plan would be for the store to use half of the space at the site.

    The application has been made by Organic Garage, an Oakville-based company whose stores are similar to the Big Carrot or Whole Foods in that they offer not just fruits and vegetables, but meat, baked goods and personal supplies. How much the neighbourhood is changing!

  12. What's That Burning Rubber Smell?


    Mulock residents are beginning to open their windows for the season and some might be wondering what that burning rubber smell is. The smell is coming from National Rubber Technologies on Cawthra Avenue, a company that recycles rubber products.

    This smell can be very overwhelming at times. Residents have reported it has caused headaches, nausea, and the necessity to close the windows on some days. The smell is so strong, it is hard to believe that it is legal. And it may not be.

    In fact, according to one resident who has investigated the issue, NRT is up for emissions re-certification. The Ministry of the Environment believes it would take a major "equipment re-fit" in order to get NRT to pass inspection, but they need our help to make the case.

    The Ministry of the Environment is asking area residents for their help in getting NRT's emissions up to snuff. They are asking us to log the time, date, and rate the strength of the smell in an effort to gauge how this impacts residents. It would also be helpful to report these "emission incidents" to the Provincial Pollution Hotline at 1-866-663-8477.

    This is another great opportunity for Mulockers to shape the direction they want their neighbourhood to take. Let's do it!

    Seems NRT will have to invested a lot of $$ to retrofit their plant or move elsewhere.
    This will probably be in the millions to fix it all up according to code.

  14. I urge residents to call in when they can smell the rubber burning, the more complaints the more evidence that the government has that something must be done to improve their facility or move to a new facility with no nearby residents.

  15. The City has given Terrasan a "Notice of Violation" and it must comply by July 15 otherwise big penalties.
    This is for 6 Lloyd Avneue site to be cleaned up and remove all concrete/garabge etc.. from the site.

    A Mulocker who contacted the city informed me of this info.

    Looks like this land wil get redeveloped by the current owner or sold to another builder but regardless good for the area since the zoning will increase the land value and homes on mulock avenue and around the area. The land is fully remediated now.
