Franklin Ave. houses site rebuilt

The Franklin Ave and Hugo Ave homes that were involved in a fire which destroyed one townhouse and severely damaged six others, on Jan 04, 2008

It took a few years but the houses have been rebuilt. Varying in design, although none have had the victorian elements recreated, they also differ from the design of the 5 new houses on Vine Ave.

The Vine Ave houses have a set design across the houses, showing a common facade across the group of new homes.

The Franklin Ave. houses have diverse facades that clearly distinguish the individual houses.

The different choices made in the facade elements impact the street scape in very different ways.

Houses involved in Jan 04, 2008 remain fire damaged

franklin-ave-fire-may-1-2009

The Franklin Ave homes that were involved in a fire which destroyed one townhouse and severely damaged six others, on Jan 04, 2008 remain fire damaged, and unrepaired today.

This row of houses have no fire walls, or short fire walls that don’t go higher than  the second floor. When a fire reaches the attic it can then burns across the rooflines and drops down into adjacent units.

Yet why for over a year must the homes sit in the fire damaged state?

Each and every day multiple hours I miss Matt and Nate
