St Johns Road in the Junctions and its painted poles

 

Why many of the poles on St Johns Road are painted grey to about 5 feet from the ground, is a wonder to this author. This does not appear to happening in others areas in the area.

This was done a while ago…to cover tags that had been spray painted on all these posts. I used to walk home on the street, someone had tagged ugly blue crap on almost all the poles, and then a while later they all got painted over.


 



 

Demolition Control Applications 510 St John's Road received by city

On May 25, 2011, Toronto Building received a demolition permit application to demolish
a two storey single family dwelling at 510 St John's Rd Toronto Building has not
received a building permit application to replace the building to be demolished as of this
date.
In accordance with By-law No 1009-2006 (former City of Toronto Municipal Code,
Chapter 14, Article 1, Demolition Control), the above noted demolition permit
application is submitted to the Etobicoke York Community Council for consideration and
decision, due to the fact that a building permit has not been issued to replace the building,
and whether to refuse or grant the demolition permit application, including conditions if
any, to be attached to the permit.

Sure looks different St Johns Rd, and it all happened so fast.

Two major demos occurring in the Junction - photo post

Right now there are two major building teardowns occurring in the Junction. The demolition of the Runnymede Healthcare Centre which  recently opened a new building and the Carleton Village public school on Davenport Ave West .

Both teardowns are contributing to new buildings to better serve the community yet, more heritage lost is sad. Although in the case of the Carleton Village public school some of the old building will remain to be incorporated into the new police station.

Runnymede Healthcare Centre starts hoarding of old building

Runnymede Healthcare Centre recently opened a new building which sets down into the community street really well, looking at he new building from the two flanking residential streets and the two commercial arterial road.

Recently hoarding has appeared along the St Johns Road face of the old building, for what reason?
